Hedgehogs at Talks and Shows
Code of Conduct
The British Hedgehog Preservation Society has released a code of conduct for wildlife rehabilitators that ensures hedgehogs are not taken to talks and shows.
Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue has not taken animals to talks or shows for many years and we do not allow visits to the rescue either. We hold an annual open day, with limited tour bookings to ensure the hedgehog welfare is paramount. The hedgehogs in our hospital are sick or injured. Hedgehogs are wild animals. They are very different from pets or domesticated animals that we may be used to encountering.
We have found many ways to provide entertaining and insightful talks and events without the use of animals.
We hope the code of conduct explains more about why we don't take hedgehogs to our talks or shows.
